Baby with fever

I'm just posting for some reassurance really, and hopefully some advice.

12mo DS has had a fever since yesterday lunchtime. Up until a couple of hours ago it was just over 38 degrees and 5ml of Calpol was bringing it down to normal levels from time to time. Now it's gone up to 39.4.

He's eating and drinking (had a bowl of porridge ten mins ago) and has been playing quite happily today but really clingy. He's slept a lot. I've now put him to bed early (it's 6pm here as I type this) as he was crying and snuggling in to me Sad

No rash or anything but his hands and feet are a lot cooler than his head. He's a bit snotty and seemed a little bit shaky earlier, with tony goosebumps on his arms.

He's never had a fever before so I'm just really worried about him. What can we do to help? When would you take him to the dr? What should we be looking out for?

Have looked at NHS website but still worried. Thanks
