I had a blow out with my 5 year old today and feel so guilty. He had my phone and my husband and I went to get him dressed for school and he refused to give up my phone. He tends to get tunnel vision and began to act up. He then went to elbow me when I went to get my phone back which is something he really does. Then he got up off the couch and threw a shoe at me which then led me to get up and follow him. He ran away from me into his bedroom and went to climb up his bunkbed. I grabbed for him to pull him down and he must have let go or I pulled harded than I think because he fell and bounced his head off the door jam and got a huge bump. I never hit my kids. Ever. He's usually a perfect child. I figuratively want to jump off a bridge right now. I have been crying all day.

U r not a bad parent!! It was an accident don't blame yourself, we have all gone through situations like this and I k ow it's hard not to feel guilty but you really shouldn't, no parent is perfect and no child is perfect. We all learn from our mistakes and try and do better in the future. There is no guide to being a parent, stop beating yourself up and try and relax a bit, have a glass of wine or two if u need to, hell we all do sometimes x

It was for sure an accident. But I think The guilt I am feeling is coming from the fact that I know had I not pulled him he would not have fallen I am trying to come to terms with the fact that I lost my cool and he got hurt. But on the flip side I'm aware had he not created the situation it also would not have happened. This parenting thing is tough. And I have two so this is not new to me. Thanks for your support. This is a helpful resource.
