Virgin child safe settings and porn hub

My child safe settings are on. But can see from my internet history that my son has been watching pornhub. When I clicked on the link from my history page it brought up several thumbnail videos all of which could be watched with sound and no message popped up from virgin saying this content is blocked. When I clicked on one of the thumbnails and made it full sized it could also be watched. Why?? Anyone know?

Are you sure it was your son?

How old is he?

The blocking at the service provider probably can't keep up with changes to the website and their IP address.

You could add a local filter to help, I think the antivirus products might have this. You may have to pay more for it though.

My DS is tech savvy enough to hack our router and defeat the controls we had in place. It's an arm's race to a teenager, and fun to boot.

No technical controls beat the sex talk in person, and regards periodically reinforcing that porn is nothing like "real sex"

Best of luck with that Confused

If your son has his own device, download K9 from Bluecoat.

thanks scruffy - helpful! I have even gone into the websafe settings at myvirginmedia today and specifically told it to block pornhub.com and it's still not working, so you must be right.

and yes, we have had the sex talk again in terms you suggest. I also made him watch a channel 4 documentary called Porn on the Brain which I managed to rent from youtube for £2.50 (had no idea you could do that till today!) and I found this blog post about talking to teenagers about porn helpful

not heard of K9 - will look at that

It’s free and effective from a well known security software house. Good luck

Go to internet history, settings, block, then under the trace settings you can find out what time it was accessed.
