my 10 year old is always full of passion, energy and enthusiasm and can never wait. He is lovely most of the time, exept today he didnt want to do something he was a nightmare.

he knew i had to take him shopping, but he dragged his heels, kept walking off, was cheeky etc. he was like his for four hours.

i ignored him, thratened to not take him to cinema (He didnt care!) walked away etc etc
if he is like this at ten i am dreading it when he is a teenager

i told him we had to shop for certain items, and i made sure i done the shopping before i went into a shop of his choice-but it was so stressful today. i even said i was going to but toddler reins for him so he wouldnt wander off

Well I hope you didn't take him to the cinema, whether he wanted to go or not.

I am not surprised that a 10 year old doesn't want to go shopping esp for items not solely for him.

What you can do in future:-

  • bribe him with something he really wants
  • palm him off on some one else (you may have to have their 10 yos at another time)
  • threaten him with something he really doesn't want
  • go shopping in the evening/weekend and leave him at home with dh/dp/babysitter.

I do not think he will have taken the baby reins threat seriously.
