2 hr Rule for Formula

Just wondered does the 2 hour rule for formula still apply for a 9 month old. He doesn't always sleep through esp when teething and just wants milk, I make a few ounces up before I go to bed and it's usually wasted as it can be past the time when he wakes... I just wondered how long would you leave formula ( out of fridge) before throwing away.... just the 2 hours or longer now he's not a newborn?? X

Yes.

Yes it still exists.

At 9 months, for an extra feed in the night, I would probably just use normal cows milk tbh.

I say the above, as that should make it a bit easier for you I would think.

I wouldn't leave it longer, why can't you leave it in the fridge?

It still applies. It's because it's made of milk which will harbour bacteria when left at room temperature too long. But why not make a bottle, chill, refrigerate and re-heat? That's what we always did for night feeds. There's no reason to be leaving it sitting out for hours. Or use the ready made carton and offer at room temperature (easier but more expensive).
