Did you turn the heat on yet?

I know this is not really a parenting question, but did you turn heat on yet? I am freezing at home and sitting under the duvet with cold fingers still! I need to get things done around the house, but not very motivated when its so cold. Kids are at school...so is it a waste to turn the heat on in the house for just me?

Not got the heating on yet but I don't think it's a waste at all to put it on in the day,. We control ours by temperature rather than time and it seems to have worked out a little cheaper.

Are there other things you can do like wear wrist warmers, extra layers, 20 minutes of aerobics? When our last boiler was on it's last legs the house was really cold so I would sometimes end up baking just to stay warm Smile

Our heating is never off, just on a thermostat. I don't care what the date is, if it's cold the heating comes on.

Put it on! Ours has been on a wee bit this last month as it's so cold.

Use thermostat so it clicks off when it warms up

No. I'm holding out until October if i can. It's so expensive.

We've been putting ours on very low for an hour or so most days morning and night for a couple of weeks now. 🎗

I always used to hold out until the clocks went back, even if it meant wearing two jumpers and a duvet [stubbornface]

But now I have a new thermostat controlled boiler so it is just on all the time. It is currently set on 19 degrees and it switched on for the first time a couple of days ago. We got very excited "ooh look the heating's on!".

Get a thermostat and never feel bad (or cold) again Grin

It's supposed to be more efficient too so I will be comparing the energy use to last years to see if that is true.

And if all else fails, you can have my cold. Very hot and sweaty here 🤑

I'm just 'testing' ours this evening for the first time since spring.. ...
