Help, not sure how to punish ds for this.

Ds is 6 and dsd is 9. Both old enough to know better.

Today, the two of them were upstairs, I assumed playing in their room. When I went up they'd been in mine and dh room, they'd completely tossed our bed, all the bedding in a heap, even the mattress protector ..they'd also taken down all the pictures I have in the wall, a sort of collage of pic of me and dh with different friends. Some of the pics were damaged. I asked them why on earth they'd done it and they laughed and blamed our cat. ..

Dsd left straight after I found it, back to her mums, so I only have ds here. He's saying it was all dsd fault and is in floods of tears after I told him how upset I am about my pictures. I'm not sure what to do. It doesn't seem fair that he get punished but dsd doesn't..

I don't know what I'm more upset about .. the complete disregard for my belongings, or the fact that they really didn't care that they'd done it. I try so hard to be a good mum and especially step mum.

Punish him by making him clean it up then make her clean his room in compensation for leaving him to take the blame the next time she comes.

Her punishment may have to wait but she can still be told off. They've both damaged your photos - he should have come and told you if it was her mainly doing it. I would be considering removing or not giving each of them something they would otherwise have had coming up.
