Yesterday I bit the bullet and ditched the dummies! My twins have been very reliant on them but are turning 3 in a month so it was finally time they went. We talked all day about them being given to the fairies, who would give them to the babies and leave presents in return. We had a fairly difficult night with the girls continuously coming down for cuddles and to check if the fairies had come out of their door yet! DT1 finally fell asleep on me on the sofa (I got fed up of going upstairs) at 10:15 and DT2 eventually fell asleep in her bed at around 11pm. They cried and asked for their dummies a few times, said they wanted to be babies and not big girls but we both stuck to it, read them about 6 stories and gave hundreds of cuddles and kisses! As expected, we were all very tired this morning, but the word dummy wasn't even mentioned once!! I've absolutely dreaded this milestone but proud of all of us so far. DH and I worked really well as a team last night (was expecting it to result in tired and stressed arguments but there was nothing) and he even encouraged me to take a softer approach with them at one point!!
Feeling a bit like super parents right now (even though I could sleep for a week)!!
