Hi everyone... my little man (2 and a half weeks old) has come out in this horrible spotty rash which seems to be getting angrier by the day!!!! Internet suggests it's just baby acne or newborn rash as they cal it but it's really worrying me!! I'm washing it with plain water every day and patting dry. I also ordered some "Mustela physiobebe" which I read is really good and it came today. I've applied it twice but the rash seems to have got worse if anything! I'm going out of my mind because I feel like it's just getting more and more angry! Help! Any advice is much appreciated! Xx

Are you breastfeeding? If you are squirt some milk on it, it works wonders. Failing that go the gp (I'd usually suggest the pharmacist but I think they send little ones to gp just in case) as he might need an antihistamine cream. Congratulations, he's gorgeous Smile

Can't really suggest anything other than when DD had baby spots I kept a bottle of cooled boiled water in the fridge which I routinely dabbed her with. Does take a while to clear though

Thanks both! Yes I am breastfeeding, and I'm wondering if he's allergic to my milk or something as seems to get worse after I've fed him. I was thinking of taking him to the doctors. I haven't registered him yet though as not been able to register his birth yet (my appointment is next Tuesday) so wasn't sure if I could get an appointment xx

Registering the birth has nothing to do with being able to register with GP - he already has an NHS number and you will be able to get an appt.

Aww what a sweetie! Smile It looks like baby acne to me. My dd had it. One of my friends' dd's had it too. She was advised to put aqueous cream on it which she said helped but I just washed my dd's face with v mild baby soap when she was in the bath. Her baby acne cleared up on its own but I've heard putting breastmilk on it helps too.

I think it's urticaria or newborn acne.
My son had it at a day old. It will fade

He's very cute btw congratulations 😊

Newborn skin flare-ups are very, very common. Try not to worry because it will clear itself up, and I doubt very highly he is allergic to your breast milk.

VinIsGroot · 19/09/2017 18:29

DD was allergic to my breast milk!!! She had a dairy intolerance and suffered badly and was covered in spots which progressively got worse.
I had to cut all dairy out in my diet and she was fine !!!
Try dairy free and see if it improves.

It's very likely baby acne. It looks worse when they're warm or angry. It's normal for it to look worse after a feed because they're warm from snuggling into you.

Don't put anything on it, it will go and probably by 6 weeks. Rarely it can get infected and need a cream but usually it's self limiting.

Get it checked by a pharmacist for peace of mind but it looks exactly like normal baby acne.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 19/09/2017 19:45

Yeah, we had that.
Don't panic, it cleared up without any help by 8 weeks.
