18 month old refusing the Ikea high chair! What next??!

Arghh! Toddler point blank refusing the high chair and is pointing 'chair, chair' to where we sit. what's the next option when they've outgrown the baby high chair? I remember using one of those £10 booster seats with my daughter but it meant she couldn't get her legs under the table so all the food she dropped ended up all over her lap. Is there anything better?

Thank you!

We had a Tripp Trapp. Meant they could sit up properly at the table. They used it until they were about 6.

My daughter is trying it on with this too. I am peservering abd refusing to serve food if not in her highchair!

Presumably you've taken the tray off and sat the chair at the table?

Ikea have a toddler chair which is good for my 2.5 year old so he can sit right up at the table. My 11 month old however spends her entire time trying to get out of the high chair - so not sure what we are going to do about that. Confused

greenlizard · 18/09/2017 16:39

The Ikea Urban is the one I have.

Just keep putting him in the high chair. It's a phase and it'll pass.

I clearly give in too easily as I just chase my 18th month old around the house with food. She isn't going to win guest of the year. I need to buy a dinner table too GrinBlush

Also ikea urban. My very tall 4 year old still uses it.

We've used the IKEA INGOLF for both ours as a follow on from the high chair.
We had to be quite firm with them sitting in it as they have the opportunity to get off and move around but they got it pretty quick.
My DD had it until she was over 4 and now my 3 yr old DS has it.

Really like the look of the Ikea chairs, thank you!
