10 month old refusing expressed breast milk after starting formula

I was exclusively bf-ing until a week or so ago, when baby was 10 months. I stopped because I am pregnant again and milk really slowed down so baby wasn't happy, plus my nipples were hyper sensitive and baby just got new teeth 😬. Anyway - I have quite a few things of expressed breast milk in the freezer and I was planning on giving him one bottle of BM every other day or something (as I stupidly thought this would stretch the goodness out) but now he has got a taste for formula he won't drink it, or at least will drink not very much of it. I tasted both of them and the formula is a lot sweeter, so I don't blame him really. But I really want him to drink it! Anyone had this? Any tips for getting him to drink it?

I also feel a bit sad and sorry for myself as I expected him to light up with glee as he tasted his mothers milk for the first time in a little while, and I hadn't expected him to make his "yuck" face and push the bottle away...

Did you the BM taste sour or metallic? When it's frozen and defrosted if you have a high level of a certain enzyme in your milk it basically becomes rancid and tastes horrible. I had this problem and had to bin a load of frozen. Apparently if you hear it before freezing it can solve the issue, but I didn't know this until I'd frozen a load of it.

Sorry, I meant to say that some people find mixing a small amount of vanilla extract helps. The milk is not harmful, just tastes Confused

I had to chop and change between bm and various formula milks (poor milk supply and intolerant baby!) and we used to play around with ratios e.g. half one type half the other, 2/3 one type, etc, to get her to change over. Is that an option for you? Hope all goes well.

Yes you could make up bottles with half bm and half formula etc if you don't want to waste it and he won't drink it?

Or use it in his food?
