Ideas for indoor games with a poorly 14 month old?

My 14 month old DS is poorly with hand, foot and mouth. I had a fun weekend planned but had to cancel as I don't want to pass it on to other kids. It's likely to be raining, my DH is at work all weekend, and I'm reluctant to just stick the telly on all day. Any ideas for activities/games that might keep him amused?

Is he walking? Obstacle course if so - cushions on floor, jumping over a wooden spoon etc.

Zoom toy cars through shaving foam then wash them in a bowl.

Baking beads, pasta, lentils etc (basically interesting shapes etc) in one bowl, transfer to another bowl.

Play doh if you have it

Hand/finger painting

Upturned pots and pans, various spoons = drum kit

Put some music on and have a disco

Also have a picnic in the living room for lunch, invite teddies, dolls etc.

Hope he feels better soon!

Great ideas, thanks! He walks a bit but very unsteady. He loves transferring stuff though, so the pasta shapes etc will go down well I think.

Bath if you have one - loads of containers and bubbles and bubbles to blow too.

Home made playdoh ?

Build a simple little den with a blanket over a table and give him a torch if you have one

Mine adored playing with dry rice at that age. Something about the texture.

A long, warm bath in the middle of the day can be good if he likes splashing around. Get lots of toys, jugs etc for him to play with.

How about finger painting? If you haven't got any paints, you can always use things like tomato ketchup on his high chair tray.

Thanks for the suggestions! The rain held off for an hour or so and we managed a walk to feed the ducks. Then a solid hour playing with rice and lentils! He's currently having a nap so I'm putting my feet up.

Colander and pipe cleaners - feed pipe cleaners into holes
