We are two weeks into it - every night my 10 mo baby is waking several times a night. She was sleeping through the night since she was 3 months til now. She cries til we go to her and doesn't stop til we pick her up. She doesn't cry then unless we put her back in her cot so we end up with her lying next to us til she goes back to sleep. I want to try sleep training or controlled crying as I have bad injury and my husband has a technical job that he needs to be alert for! Please please can I hear what anyone has done to stop this. I don't need to hear about how anyone is against any methods, thank you. I'm just looking for solutions please! Thanks in advance!

To be fair, it was continuous upset with me too.

What I meant was that when I left the rooom I'd leave it two minutes before going back in, and then 4 minutes the next time etc.

The first night we did it there was crying pretty much continually before he fell asleep after about 50 minutes but then it got better each night.

Same with us too - about an hour the first night, then decreased dramatically night after night.

I'm pleased to hear that is just an hour. Last night she was awake for four hours out of her cot. We will start tonight. Thank you so much

How did it go last night @Dalesgirl16?

Dalesgirl16 · 17/09/2017 14:24

It went better than I thought. I did as advised here and went in after 1, 2 , 4 and 8 mins. After half an hour she stopped crying and fell asleep for 20 mins then woke up for another 20. It wasn't as traumatic as I thought it would be and I wished we tried this when all this started two weeks ago. I couldn't get back to sleep of course after, as usual!! I'm going to post in a new post requests for recommendations of white noise machines that go on all night - for both of us!!

That sounds really positive - just stick with it, keep to the 1,2,4 and 8 minute intervals and you will soon see a big improvement

Thank you! Hope so!
