Started potty training and now have 'nappy' rash!!??

I've just started potty-training with DD (2.3) over the last few days, and she has developed a rash over her bottom. It looks (I think) like nappy rash (although DD rarely had any nappy rash, and this looks worse than anything she's had before). It looks a bit like an eczema type rash...dry and flat rather than spotty.

It's odd because she's hardly wearing a nappy at all at the mo.

Could this be her skin 'adjusting' from the damper conditions of a nappy? We use cloth nappies, by the way.

Obviously I'll be taking her to the doc if it persists, but just thought I'd see if this has happened to anyone else.

I could have written your OP GeronimosMa. My dd (2y3m) has been potty training for a fortnight tomorrow and has exactly the rash you describe, having never had nappy rash when she wore nappies! I wondered if it was because we are washing her bottom with soap now rather than wiping with wipes, and also showering her bottom and legs if she has an accident. Are you doing anything similar? If so, it may be the exposure to different products, more warm water and more drying with towels than mormal.

Hers seems to be settling down now, hope your dd's does soon x
