As a single parent I'm aware that I should be able to claim a childcare grant when I begin uni in October.

My question is does the grant only cover you for the time you are actually at the uni for tutorials, lectures etc or will it cover additional hours that I would require for private study?

Thanks

as far as i am aware, you tell them your actual daily childcare costs, not hourly.

I don't know my timetable yet, but I was informed at the interview that the course would be run three days a week (no mention of how many hours a day).

Would I be able to get the grant to cover four days a week so I got an extra day for private study and the chance to do some voluntary work (which would be related to my course)?

Does the LEA require evidence of your timetable?
