Moving to Cornwall

I'm looking for some advice on moving to Cornwall. My husband was born there and has longed to move back now at a stage where we can. Youngest and last daughter is 13 and wants to as well but 16 year old son doesn't want to. He is starting to get in with the wrong crowd so we want a fresh start. Thinking of Truro but I am very nervous as massive move for us we live just outside of London now. Thanks all !!

The difficulty with cornwall are jobs if you can sort out these then the rest is what sort of lifestyle you want.

Truro is a nice small city but I wouldn't describe it as the Cornish retreat most people move to Cornwall for. Great for the college though.

Thanks yes worried about work but also not sure if my husband is yearning for a picturesque life .. that probably doesn't exist anywhere !

How are you even going to begin to start persuading your 16 year old, suburban DS to move? Presumably by the time you have organised this he will be in the middle of A-levels, Btecs or training? And if you do manage it and it doesn't live up to his expectations, what then?

To be honest I'd wait until he's finished a levels etc and is of the age where he can choose to stay if he wants.

The biggest issue would definitely be jobs. It's a massive struggle down here for people of all ages, even those with skills - qualifications etc. I wouldn't move down unless you had jobs in place first.

I'd try a few visits to explore different areas at different times of year. It's very different when the summer season ends.
