Oh pruni, I have days like this. Its only human to feel like that. I feel like a stuck record sometimes, and so ineffectual. Invisible even

3littlefrogs · 02/04/2007 22:42

Do you remember those Italian restaurants that had a sort of fishing net stretched across the ceiling, and it was full of wine bottles etc? I used to wish for a large net at ceiling level in my house, into which I could place everything that was of any value or use. It would have been the only way....

I even had garden trellis stretched across the living room - nailed to the wall at both ends. Dcs on one side, everything breakable on the other.

It is a phase - keep telling yourself this - every few minutes.................

Oh, come on Pruni, NOBODY is cut out for chasing toddlers around removing forbidden objects and trying not to lose patience. It's an arse. If most days you just deal with it, you are doing as well as anyone else, and a lot better than some.

Oh god, it's the pits

Wish I had some more comforting words but I do think you are doing a fab job in difficult circumstances

they really are very very very very very annoying sometimes

Soapbox · 02/04/2007 22:49

Pruni - did you read the thread on here today about the Tanya Byron article in the Times?

If not I think you definitely should do so

controlfreaky2 · 02/04/2007 22:50

We all do it. I nearly sent dd into orbit for shredding a knitting pattern of mine. OK, so it was one of those ghastly booklets of flared 70s acrylic dolly clothes, but I was very cross indeed with her.
Pruni, your ds is a gorgeous, sociable, totally typical toddler. It is in their JD to drive their mothers to contemplate murder at times, please don't be hard on yourself my love

motherinferior · 02/04/2007 22:53

I threw the Inferiorettes' bloody Kinder Egg thingywossnames across the room yesterday

The more you say it now, the easier it will be in the future. Believe me. He will get it, but you have to put the work in for the first 2 years and you will be rewarded. I know it seems like an impossible task and it is obsolutely soul destroying, but it will get better. I don't think there is a parent on here, that doesn't feel what you feel at the moment. You ARE cut out for it and you WIL get over it. Tomorrow is another day.... {hugs}
