Day feeding struggles!!! Help...

Hello everyone I could really do with some help. I have a 17 week old baby. I'm exclusively breastfeeding. Night feeds are perfect, she feeds then is back off to sleep. The day feeds on the other hand are really hard. She will cry a lot before each feed, it used to just be for a few minutes but as time has gone on it seems to go on for longer and longer. After a while of crying, latching and pulling off she will finally latch and feed. As she's done it for some time, I'm thinking this may be her personality? It's quite distressing for us both, I just want to be able to soothe her. Has anybody had a similar experience, any advice? SadSmile

Thank you.

Are you feeding her on demand? The only thing I can think of is is she too hungry by the time you feed? Sometimes my DS is like this if I have put off feeding him for 5 minutes or so while I finish doing something.

Is she getting enough sleep in the day? Could she be over tired possibly?

We have had to feed in a quiet room with minimal distractions and dimmed lights or baby ds will just not feed. He's slightly better if he's had sufficient naps (my biggest battle at the moment)

Sounds stressful Flowers

Thank you for responding both Smile I'm feeding on demand, there's times when it's a little delayed if I'm doing something but it seems to happen regardless. She's very difficult to get off to sleep for day time naps which I think is contributing to the situation. She also tends to wake up when I put her down. I may need to try some different methods for getting her off to sleep. I thought a bottle might help during the day, I've tried expressing and 3 different teats but she won't accept. I've coped up to now but it's been going on for so long I'm starting to feel helpless and down 😓

Can't help with the naps during the day I'm afraid... had the same issue where DS would wake when I put him down so I started feeding him lying down. Yes it's feeding almost to sleep and creating bad sleep associations blah blah blah, BUT he naps and thats all I care about Smile.

I feed to sleep, like you it doesn't bother me. I think whatever works, works. Today has been way better, she's gone back to having a little cry instead of hysterical crying. wonder if she's teething. Hoping the worst of it has passed... for the time being anyway 😅
