How do you make sure your child knows you love them?

I tell ds1 that I love him, and cuddle him and tell him he is "My best >" like he says I am his best mummy, but I do wonder if, after he has been told off, he feels unloved? And what is the best way to tell him off for being naughty without making him feel unloved?

If you do all that I am sure he feels loved! All kids get told off but some get told off and never hear they are loved they are the ones to worry about

But he weeps and is distraught and sob "Oh I am sowwy, Mummy..."

and I feel like Queen Turd, of Crapmum Mountain

They know exactly which buttons to press colditz. My dd can really turn on the waterworks when she has been told off for doing something naughty

I wouldn't worry too much. The fact that he is fed, watered, has a roof over his head and you tell him you love him will complete overshaddow things when you tell him off. Chances are, the thought never crosses his mind.

Oh yes, me thinks he's playing you!!

I always think the little chats you have with them reinforce the message that they are loved. When I've been cross with mine, I wait until we have all calmed down then maybe have a sit down and a chat about the reasons I was cross (if it was a major blowout!) and I say usually that I am sorry I was cross and they might say sorry for whatever they did then big hugs all round and lots of reassurance.

Your day to day behaviour towards your son will tell him how much he is loved.

Probably all parents worry about this but you still have to tell them off though don't you?
