Big baby boy!!

Ds is 8 and a bit mo (36 weeks old) took him to get weighed last week and he was 23lb. When the two health visitors saw how old he was they looked stunned. I never really think he's that big until I see him against other babies but now I know his weight it's really bothering me, especially as the HV went on about how he's jumped five percentiles since birth, however they never take into consideration that 1) he was born three weeks early and 2) he's ridiculously tall, he already fits into some 12-18 month clothes, as they never measure him when they weight him. Has anyone else been through this? They told me to cut down his milk (atm he has two solid meals two full sized bottles and two small bottles) and instead give him desserts after meals but I can't see how that is going to reduce his overall food intake???

My ds was 21lbs at 23 weeks when I started solids. Nothing was said about his weight. I'd ignore the advice to give dessert rather than milk tbh.

When my boy was about 5/6 months, he was off the percentile scale. The HV told me I fed him too much, blah blah. But the boy was hungry. I ignored her. Mostly because my friend was sat beside me crying because she couldn't get her boy to eat/drink anything and the HV didn't seem to care too much about that. I figured at least my boy was eating, and that their attention would be better directed elsewhere.
Is your baby moving much yet? My son is now 6, and he is a right bruiser. Built like a spartan, I always say. 😂 like yours, he is taller than most, he is the same or taller than those in his class that are almost 7 (he's a May baby) I wouldn't be surprised if that your boys future as well. HV can be good, but they are also a bit pants at times. Try not to worry.

Don't worry, just keep doing what you are doing, once he is on his feet he will burn so much energy off. My ds was about 22lb at about 7.5 months (8lb11 at birth) and now at almost 2 and a half is yet to hit 28lb. Their weight gain slows way down when they are mobile. He is a pretty good eater though much picker since he hit two, he never sits still. I think if they are eating, sleeping, peeing and pooping and happy then why rock the boat!!

What is his height % compared to his weight %? My DD was born on 75% for weight but is now on the top the 90% but with her 99.8% height percentile this is not a problem.

Do you know his percentage height, op? My 7.5 month old weighs about that - he's gone from being born on the 4th percentile and is now the 75th percentile. The health visitor has only ever said 'its good he's doing so well'. Hes well above the 99th percentile for height and like your little one, is in 12-18 month clothes.
Do you think he looks unhealthy? If you think he's fine, just ignore
