Feeling very guilty

Broke up for school holidays on Friday after my first term back at school as a teacher after maternity leave. Was looking forward to being with dd, 9mths, but she was out of sorts today and I found it all very stressfull. Could not wait to put her in bed. Now I feel very guilty, as holidays are meant to be us time, and just feel like being back at work has made me a terrible mother.

Its not unusual to feel like this, don't feel guilty about it.

Its also one day. GO to bed tonight and wake up tomorrow with a fresh start.

I have several days when I can't wait to put my ds to bed That doesn't make me a bad parent, it means I'm tired and stressed usually and with a huge pile of things to do, that get done so much faster without 'help'.

Any parent looks forward to bedtime when their child is playing up or being a bit difficult. You'd be insane if you didn't.

Thanks. Decided to take dd to nursery for a few hours tomorrow and then go home and have a long nap, re-charge batteries and then dedicate rest of hols to dd.

I gave up teaching to be at home after our second and I still have days like that, plenty of them. Being a parent can be stressful whatever you do. Don't feel bad, it's normal!

Yes, I think it has all been so manic going back to work that this has been first time had chance to stop and realise how tired I am. Just looked in on sleeping dd. Looks v content, so having a miserable mummy today, does not seem to have done her too much lasting damage.
