My ds is 2yrs 5months and I was going to try potty training with him next week. He seems to know when to go as he stands in a corner to wee and poo if we are at home(the other day he had nothing on after his bath and decidided to pull out his train table to have a poo behind it in privacy!). He also tells has started telling me his nappy is dirty (points to bum and says stinky) but not when wet. He has a potty chair and I have some potty picture books......

but reading the other thread about 2.5yr olds mostly not being ready yet makes me apprehensive.

So what do you think? Shall I give it a go (if so what are your tips), or wait a little longer? TIA

If your son is ready then go for it. It makes no difference how old anyone elses baby is when they train as each child is individual and can and will only do what they can or will do.
Good luck!

dd is 2.3 and successfully trained a couple of weeks ago... she could have done it sooner but we were waiting for her to settle at playschool first.

if you think he's ready give it a try, you'll find out soon enough whether heis or not!

my dd1 was 2.5 when she toilet trained

dd2 is that age now and she is nowhere near ready

it depends on the child

ther is no harm in trying, you will know after a couple of days whether to continue or leave it a bit longer

DD is 2.4 and has been telling me 'she's gotta wee comin' for ages and taking herself off to the potty in the bathroom. So yesterday I decided I was just being lazy and she obviously was ready, so no more nappies.

She's been rubbish!! 3 poos in her pants and hasn't asked for the potty once, and despite my prompting hasn't been herself, only when I took her. Grrrrr!

Am going to wait a couple more weeks before trying again!!

well it's April. Personally I'd wait till June and then you can just leave trousers off to avoid too much washing.

But he does sound like he's ready, so if you're keen to avoid buying nappies/washing them then go for it!
