Baby acne

Hi, did you experience baby acne and if so how long did it last? Any tips to reduce it? Also how can I tell acne from rash or reaction to maybe some food that I ate? I also suspect it might be reaction to antibiotics that I had to take for mastitis. Little one covered in red inflamed spots, looks so poor((

Lots of babies have this in the early days. Mine both did. I used coconut oil on the first. Nothing on my second. Both disappeared after a couple of weeks Brew

My little one had baby acne. I've heard breastmilk or aqueous cream helps clear it up. I just washed her face (carefully!) with mild baby soap but didn't do anything else and it went away on it's own.

With DS1 it was quite bad, lasted several weeks then went away by itself - breastmilk helped.
Didn't have it with DS2.

It only lasts a couple of weeks :) I was told just wash face with damp cotton wool with just water.

My DD had this cleared up by the time she was 6 weeks. Just washed gently when bathed her didn't put anything on it went of its own accord

kingfishergreen · 21/08/2017 23:38

DD had it quite badly from 6-8 weeks.

We just washed it gently with cotton wool and water and dabbed a bit of Sudocreme on he reddest bits before bed.

My daughters was horrendous, poor thing. We where prescribed, oilatum for the bath (bath every evening) and then zero base and aveeno. We tried to zero base twice a day and aveeno twice a day. Baby acne almost went within the week (she was 6 weeks if I remember right) and she does still get the occasional spot but we still use oilatum and aveeno everyday x

My DD had it and it's now almost gone at 8 weeks.

She had 'whiteheads' come and go all over her face and red rash like spots on her face chest and back. I think there may have been heat rash in there somewhere too!

You can imagine me with my glass on her skin 6 times a day panicking!

I didn't use anything based on HV advice, just cleaned her face daily with cotton wool and warm water

We use aveeno baby body wash which is like an oat milk which I always think helps skin recover

My little one also had this till he was about 6 weeks old. Cleansing his face every morning with cooled boiled water and cotton pads helped.

FartnissEverbeans · 22/08/2017 18:09

I didn't do anything at all to it. Obviously I put some water on it when he had a bath a couple of times a week but that was it.

It cleared up in a couple of weeks and he has beautiful skin now.

Both mine had it horrendously. Dad's lasted for at least a month. DD not quite so long. Nothing worked really and it just got better n it's own. I was horrified by it though and I'm ashamed to say, quite embarrassed.

I second using a damp cotton cloth to clean baby's face. I had been using just my hands but after a few turns with the cloth her face was clear and silky smooth. My little one gets a few spots on her cheeks but they disappear after a few days

Poppet1308 · 24/08/2017 22:07

I used aveeno too! It's brilliant, really cleared it up
