My DD has her first lot of vaccinations in t-minus 7 hours!

Ive been advised to have calpol ready so I've bought the infant one with syringe.

I assumed the vaccinations weren't live so wouldn't actually make her poorly?

Calpol is the preferred drug for fever and pain. Ibuprofen is fine too, but things to bear in mind such as not giving it on an empty stomach. At our surgery, calpol is given at the same time as the meningitis B vaccine as fever is common after that one.

CaptWentworth the ward doctor in children's a&e told me to give ibuprofen for a fever and calpol for everything else (when I took DD in with high fever).

Paracetamol is an antipyretic too, and is the chosen drug in my area as there is a higher weight requirement for ibuprofen.

CaptWentworth she didn't say anything about weight but DD was 9kg at 6mths so may be why Grin

CaptWentworth · 23/08/2017 18:03

That's a good weight! DS is currently 7.5kg at 4 months.

IDoDaChaCha · 23/08/2017 18:16

CaptWentworth she's 18mths now haring about like a loon so she's a lot slimmer. I remember when she went through a food refusal/strike around 6mths: I took this huge baby (she's tall for her age too!) to children's a&e saying she's stopped eating! The consultant looked at me like I was insane. Clearly she could've gone a few days without eating without any harm done ha Grin I'll know better for DC2...

Aw bless her. I took DS to GP because he was refusing to feed. GP asked me if he was my first child (in that tone) Envy

IDoDaChaCha · 23/08/2017 20:46

CaptWentworth oh no not that tone. Doesn't help does it. All I got was bewilderment. Understandable in hindsight Grin
