I started to have very strong protective instinct with my newborn( 4 weeks old) and don't like to give him to anyone to hold. I have people (friends ) coming over and they ask to hold the baby. I am not sure if this is normal , just want to hear if other moms have it?

It's normal to feel protective of your baby (congratulations, BTW!). It's normal to not want him passed around like a parcel.

It's not normal, IMHO, to feel so possessive of your baby that you cannot stand anyone else to hold them

You are totally normal. Don't forget, your body is still going totally mental with hormones. It is a good thing you are feeling so protective about your baby. That means you're bonding. This little creature is your precious baby! You're supposed to be protective.

It's normal but try to bite it back a bit and listen to your rational self. People just want a cuddle.

I felt the same and luckily had a sling with the baby in it permanently until she was bigger.
