oh i'd love to know the answer to this one...we tried and failed in May, he was teething so we said we'd leave it for a while. his Last tooth is coming through now, so we will start potty again soon...aaaah!

dd was a bit like this and it did take a few false starts for her to get the hang of it. She has been pretty much trained since early May, around the same age as your dd and could let go voluntarily by then, whereas until then she could not (used to sit on potty at playgroup but not deliver!). Can you run a tap or try to keep her seated a little longer with books etc

Having said that dd will still hold on for hours and then sometimes has an accident if she gets upset or doesn't make it in time either by having problems undressing in the process or just not quite getting seated in time.

Good luck to you both. It is still a bit of a battle of wills with dd sometimes and she'll be 3 at end August.

lizs, did you put her in knickers or just keep trying her on the potty. I don't want to force the issue too much incase it starts being a battle. the thing with my dd she does know when she is doing it as she tells me, also for a poo too.

Had to put her into big girl pants as she knew she was going but wouldn't tend to bother with potty/toilet if she was wearing nappy (Pampers Easy Ups).
