Potty Training 2 yr old boy

My 2.11 yr old DS has been potty training for 2.5 weeks now and is doing very well. However, he only realises that he needs the toilet when a tiny bit of wee escapes. Once he realises he can hold it while we get to a toilet but EVERY pair of shorts he wears is getting damp/wet. Anyone got any ideas of how to stop it/help him??!! Or is this just a thing with boys?!

My boy did this for ages, wouldn't actually wet but if he hangs on (usually far too busy to stop and go for a wee) he'll start to drip. He'll still do it very occasionally now at 5.5, almost always if he's playing in the garden and doesn't want to stop and come in!
