Umbilical cord care

I have just given my 5 day old baby a bath and his umbilical cord is still on. I thought this was ok as long as I dried it afterwards but am now reading I shouldn't have done this. Anyone else done this and has it been ok? Not helped by the fact I have a very unsettled baby tonight so am now thinking all sorts! TIA x

I did the same and it was fine. Bathed DS every night. It didn't fall off until he was about 2 weeks old, but never had any problems with it. Don't try to remove or fiddle with it. Congratulations!
