I'm not fun

Spending time with other families in the holidays has made me realise I'm no fun. Love my DC, life centres around their every need but I am not injecting spontaneous, hilarious moments in their lives. I do structured activities which in themselves are fun. But my DS4 is temperamental so I'm on my guard ready for the next flare up. What Can I do to help them remember me as fun?

I'd recommend the book Playful Parenting - some lovely ideas there and a really interesting approach to why play is so important.

Thank you. I've ordered it. I definitely get why play is important but my own personality isn't fun. I feeling a bit depressed so it's one more stick probably! Thank you for the recommendation.

Laugh easily, laugh at their jokes and at yourself when something happens. The more you do it, the more it will come naturally. I find that i lose my cheerfulness when anxious, e.g. That DS1 will wake DS2 who may have just been put down for a nap.

Also try not to worry what others think about you, sometimes we clam up when we are being watched.

This phase of life is so short and it makes us who we are. Go for it!
