8yr old chewing toothbrush

DD is currently going through about one toothbrush a week, as she chews them to destruction! Any suggestions as this feels so wasteful?

Have tried talking to her about it but she gets defensive and says she doesn't chew.

Could she clean her teeth with the regular brush then have a cheap one to chew on.

Supervise her cleaning her teeth and get her something else to chew on? You can buy toys designed for chewing here: www.sensorydirect.com/sense/chewys.html

Oh god I thought it was just mine! (Though for us toothbrushes are destroyed after 3 days rather than a week. Will investigate the chewy toys.

Thanks both. Currently bulk buying cheapest toothbrushes I can find.

I think supervised brushing might be the only way, which is frustrating as she has always been great at cleaning teeth (I don't have to remind her, Ile l unlike her older brother).

She has always chewed them a bit, but it seems worse all of a sudden. And had hoped she might have grown out of by now.
