My mum has just announced that she plans to come up in October for my sons first birthday. Uninvited!!! We was thinking of doing a little afternoon tea party but nothing huge and I hadn't even mentioned it to her.

My mum and I haven't really been close like ever! And she's only re-appeared in my life since becoming pregnant and having my son. She's quite cutting with some of remarks she makes such as snorting at me the other day "WHY ARE YOU STILL STERILISING HIS BOTTLES". Errrrmmm because he's my son and I'll do what I feel is right! Although I kept my opinion to myself.

She upset my FIL last year when she was up and basically she isn't welcome in their home which I completely understand and I'm with him on this one. I have a better relationship with my MIL and FIL than my own parents (haven't seen my father in over a year no contact with him at all) my mum lives on the south coast about 4 hours from us.

Not really looking for advice, just needed to vent lol

Tell her that you and your husband have plans and will not be able to have her visit. Problem solved.
