Weaning toddler off breastfeeding

I want to stop breastfeeding my 18 month old. He mostly just comfort feeds. He is going to struggle but I don't want to do it anymore. Any tips how to stop gently? It's the comfort sucking I'm most worried about because of sleep association etc. Thanks.

I went the 'don't offer, don't refuse' route - so don't offer to feed, but don't refuse when he asks' - and it was lengthy, but also very gentle. I kept busy during usual feeding times - lots of distraction, offering milk or other snacks - and finding new associations at bedtime. My husband put him to bed for a while, and he'd have milk (before doing his teeth), then several books in bed.
