Getting 6 month old to sleep!!

Hi, just wondering if anyone could offer any advice? My 6 month old daughter is a nightmare at bedtime, she just cries and cried and we normally have to hoover the whole upstairs of the house to get her to go to sleep. She finds comfort in having a Muslin cloth to hold onto and rub on her face, she won't have a dummy at any cost (which isn't a bad thing I suppose). We have relied heavily on playing womb sounds to her in the past but this seems to not work anymore. She still isn't sleeping through the night either which is getting rather tedious now after 6 months. Any help would be appreciated as we're getting to the end of our tether!!

Neither of mine slept through the night till they were over 1. I'd just do anything that works. For my two it was feeding them to sleep if I was there or shushing/rocking from DP.
DS2 is almost 2 now, sometimes he still feeds to sleep, sometimes we have a story and a few nursery rhymes and he drops off to sleep. He doesn't usually wake now. At 6 months it was feed to sleep at every wake up. It does get easier.

The only way my son (also 6 months old) will sleep is in the bed with me. It's not ideal but I could never let him cry.
