So im due to go back to work at the end of September after having my first baby in January. I am beyond anxious and just feel awful about having to leave my baby for 2 12 hour shifts a week 😭 12 whole hours without seeing my baby!!!! How did anyone cope? It literally brings me to tears.

Hi, I left my ds to go back to work 4 full days (8am-5pm) when he was 10 months old.

Hand on heart I felt like life got easier! We kind of just slotted into a routine.
I loved being 'me' again and having something else to occupy my mind, but then I loved picking him up too.
I'd love to do 2 days so just think you'll get 5 full days with him. ! That's great and you'll both appreciate each other so much more.
If possible do some keep in touch days at work. I found they really helped ease me in and take away that anxiety.
Don't waste your last precious few months of mat leave stressing over this.
It really isn't that bad, honestly :)

I dreaded it and felt anxious and physically sick thinking about it. But.... it's been really positive!

It was hard to make the transition but dd started nursery a week before I returned to work (with visits before that).

We soon got in the routine, I enjoy my job (now part time) and dd loves nursery. Then we have 2 days together, then dh is off with us at the weekend. It's a really good balance 😊

I'm going back tomorrow Sadso scared to leave her with my partners mum it's unreal (me being silly, she had 6 kids so my daughter should be no problem)

I think we just have to take in in our stride like everything else in life
(I say this as I cry thinking about tomorrow)

I'm telling my self that this time in 2 weeks going back to work will be normal and just part of the routine. Flowers
