My brilliant two and a half year old son is now waking at 2.30 for the day every day.
He screams in his room waking his sister and the whole street if we leave him in there.
He has a good bed time routine of bath and then milk and to bed. About two weeks ago he started refusing to go to bed but now he's up at 2.30 for the day!
He's currently watching jungle book with my husband downstairs.
What the hells happened and what can I do?

Right he woke up but he got in my bed and fell asleep - maybe that's something we shouldn't start but if it means we survive then so be it

Gosh op absolutely no tv at 2am! And im a softy ! That is really bad and will just encourage him in erratic sleep habits.

If he wakes before 6 i would bring him into bed or lie next to him in his own bed. Soothe him but no getting up.

Ive got uo at 5am for my kids but not 230!

Nothing wrong with co sleeping if it works. Better than letting him get up at 2am

I'd choose having him in bed with you and back to sleep over one of you having to get up and watch tv with him every time! Night time is sleep time - if it has to be in with you, as long as he's not then stopping you sleeping, then so be it.

It's a phase, hopefully short-lived.

Update - thanks for all your tips ladies. Followed your advice and I can confirm we've had two nights back to normal!
The first night I did have to let him fall asleep cuddling him on the settee but last night he fell asleep in his bed and slept til seven!
I won't crow too loudly yet but so glad for a couple of nights at least!
Tv is banned after bath time now - she j terms of the tv I think I'm so panicked about him waking up my 3 year old that I let him get away with murder. No more lol!
I have started leaving his night light on - he first night he didn't wake it was on. Coincidence?

My 3yo wakes screaming in the middle of the night if I forget to turn on the night light. That's probably it, actually

MrsSkeffington · 19/07/2017 12:50

We are back to normal and night light has remained on!

Famous last words - up at three last night but kept grinding his teeth and wanting food so am hoping this is teething. Sent him off a bit later tonight with a hearty dose of calpol in his system
