My bambenio has arrived today - how long will it last before i need to change it obv if he poos i will change but for absorbancy wise? I have a motherease wrap to go over it and in the nappy is a bit of cloth which im assuming is a booster or is it just std? Do i need this bit in or just for a night or is it essential. Its lovely and soft!

I would leave the booster in all the time, yes it is trhe booster, so you will get longer wear out of it rather than leaving it out. Don't forget to wash your new nappy at least three time before using it or it will be much less absorbant and you will then prob thinks it's rubbish!! As for changing it, play it by ear and you will soon get used to how often your little one needs changing!

If you don't wash them the chances are they'll leak a little as they did for me when I forgot to wash them.
I just wash mine on 40 then every so often run them through on a 60.
personally almost every wash I do with nappies is different.

mish2 · 24/03/2007 10:58

but if he wears them and they leaked a little it would only be the first 3 times so in effect if were just in the house today anyway he could wear it till its done and then i could wash it ? yay or ney? or doe sit need washing before they are introduced to his wee?

Absolutly, you could just go ahead and use it, just don't want you to be dissapointed if it's not as absorbant as it could be. If you do decide to pre wash then use a non bio, only a small ammount (usually half recommended dose) and you don't need to dry the nappy between washes.

Aquababe · 24/03/2007 11:10

After my one where I messed up I just threw them all in with my noraml washing and they got through the 3 wash cycle in no time. didn't wait for them to dry properly mind.
Not sure about the introducing to wee as my bamboo nappies just got slung through washes.
For the record I still don't do nappy only washes very often (about once a fortnight everything goes through on a hot wash towels and all. the rest of the time they go through whast ever wash I'm putting on. dh is a bit funny about it though.

flamey · 24/03/2007 11:21

I do nappy only washes, but that is because I use bio and softner on normal washes.

Agree - you can use them as they are (although I tend to wash once to get rid of any manufacture bits still there), but just be aware that they won't be as absorbant.

I always use the booster - folded in half and put over his boy bits for max absorbancy

mish2 · 24/03/2007 11:23

ha ha - we have just had the same convo with my dh as he said he didnt fancy a bit of undigested food turning up in his work clothes - lol! oh if you dont have to wait for em to dry ill just wham em through with my whites today and beiges bedding later - wow i sound so domesticated there!
