Does anyones ds/tomboy dd do ballet?

My sister's friend runs a ballet class for los. Ds is 2.5 and while a bit young now after summer when he's 3 I'd quite like him to start. He loves dancing and music and I think he will enjoy it. Both me and my sis started at his age and enjoyed it..

He's not exactly a delicate flower though and I wonder whether it will be too 'girly' for him (his favourite hobbies include any kind of cars/tractors/lorries etc and smashing things).

Anyone with experience?

hi havent got any personal experiences to share but my dd does latin american dancing and there is only one boy who is twelve in the whole dance school! i think its fine to let them dance if they enjoy it when they are so young cos they dont get judged by other children so much! it just will get a bit worrying when he is older because kids can be so cruel and because dancing isint seen as a manly sport although strictly dancing has sportsmen and male celebrities taking part so think it will get better!

If my ds's want to do ballet they will be allowed to. If you want a more "manly" dance there is capoeira which is martial arts in dance

if i had a little boy i would def let them do dance it helps them hold themselves well, gives them confidence, keeps them fit!

My 3.5yr old godson does ballet and he adores it. It helps with his coordination and balance and he can ber very determined and focused- and he doesn't stop smiling.

My BIL is a professional ballet dancer. He looks stunning and women drop at his feet.

I think it'll be good (as long as he doesn't get too distracted by wanting to kiss the girls - his latest thing atm )

My DD started at 2.5 and ds (13mths younger) accompanied us. At 2.5 he asked if he could start and my dh was abit worried and said no. Anyway it got to the point after dd's class ds would cry that it wasn't his turn so dh changed his mind. He loves it and although he is the only boy in the class doesn't mind. Other mothers there have asked me how my dh feels about it as they have ds's who want to start but can't due to objections from dh's. He can attend until he feels its no longer for him. To balance I have enrolled him for football which he loves too.
