Potty Training - Progress at last!?!?

Hi all.

I have been potty training DS (3.3) since August. It has been an extremely frustrating time, whereby he seems to have cracked one week, and then literally back at square one the next week. We have been through so many cycles of this......

When he is having a bad week, he actually seems shocked that he has weed himself. He doesn't seem to have had any control over it - and I'm talking full scale puddle types accidents.

Anyway, I know this probably sounds crazy, but I think I have noticed a trend.
For about 2 weeks we had no ribena in he house - and we had an excellent fortnight - whereby he was actually going off to the toilet by himself - and keeping dry (ish) pants all day. After buying ribena, and DS having one cup a day for 2 days - we were back at square one again!! Approx 8 full scale accidents each day.

Since Saturday we cut out ribena and over the past few days, things have significantly improved again.

I don't want to count my chickens - but I am really hopeful.

Will keep everyone updated on our progress.

Hope that this post may help someone else who is my position.

Jenny

Ah....vitamin c irritating the bladder.....

Does it happen if he eats citrus fruits as well?

Go on, you know you want to experiment.

Good luck though, sounds like you are getting there.

wow

very clever to notice that. sounds very promising.

I always noticed that DS was big time affected by drinking juice. I have only ever allowed him juice occasionally because it made him absolutely flood his nappies.

Might be connected.

Hope goes well

Hi all,

Just to give you an update.

Since cutting out Ribena; DS is now dry.

We had one slight regression (for one day) when DS had some Robinsons Orange fruit and Barley.

Following our GP's advice, we are methodically making our way through differnt types of drinks; making a note of e-numbers on those which seem to affect him.

Hope this gives hope to those who are struggling. We were at our wits end with DS and his accidents. Its awful to think how cross we got with him - and he physically couldn't help it.

Jenny
