Why on earth I decided to take on 2 60point Ou courses i'll never know, but big mistake as I can't keep up!

Juggling ds, work, and studying leaves no time at all for a social life and i'm just feeling really fed up!

Its 1500-2000 words and i'm 655 in and brain dead, todays my last day as i'm working tomorrow.

Any tips?! How do you all stay so focoused? Its soooooo hard!!

Same here loopy!

My advice is to have a brain break - do something active (I go off and do a bit of housework or go for a walk) then come back to it. Think about the relief when it's done and just grit your teeth and keep going ...

Molesworth · 22/03/2007 14:01

oh and stay off mumsnet

(pot, kettle, black springs to mind ...)

loopyloowithaboo · 22/03/2007 14:06

A walk, good idea i'll take the dog out and hopefully feel more revitalised and be able to get stuck in.

You have a TMA due tomorrow? What course are you doing? I'm on U212 Childhood. And DD100 but thankfully a few more weeks before that TMA's due!

Okay.... first.

Grab a cup of tea!

Now.... have you done the intro and do you know what your conclusion is going to be, roughly?

My tutor says that she likes to write her first draught as an informal chat to for example her mum. She just tells her everything that she wants to say.

Then she re-reads and imagines her mum saying... I don't understand that, what does that mean? Then when she's finished doing that she takes out the necessary info and writes it up formally.

I don't know if that helps but it might.

How do I keep my motivation up? I have a study buddy and we call each other occasionally and tell each to pull a finger out or have some vodka. hth

Mine's not due tomorrow but I have two due in on 10th April, and I haven't started reading for the other one yet

I'm doing DD201 and D318

Did you start DD100 in Feb or Oct?

loopyloowithaboo · 22/03/2007 14:43

Marslady what a great idea, just write it freestyle then add the extra (boring) bits later. I think that would really help me, as I do tend to get de-motivated stopping my flow, to add facts. So thanks.

I started DD100 in October, only got 3 more TMA's to go! Which feels great, like i'm nearing the end of the first hurdle!

I'm doing U212 maybe I can help? Which option are you doing?

loopyloowithaboo · 22/03/2007 15:27

Oh thats great, we can support each other!

I'm doing option 2, which one did you pick?

I love the course, its a real mind opener, I suspect the problem is that I need to find a way to organise my time more effectively.

Hi Loopyloowithaboo. I am so sorry i didn't get back to you. I had a really busy day yesterday. I did option 2 as well! Most people seem to have done option 1 going by first class conference.

I hope you have managed to get on with it now. What I did basically was talk about innocence in general, then sexual innocence in more detail including the issue of intent. Then I went on to the beholder and the different things that affect how each individual judges sexual innocence (discourses, era, culture etc) Then tied all that in with protectionist and participationist stance reactions.

In both my TMAs so far I have used lots of references to the case studies and audio-visual stuff.

I am working today but will check back here at around 5.30 pm.

I agree i am absolutely loving this course so far - think its really fascinating. Some of the DVD material has made me feel very sad though.

By the way I think marsladys tutor's suggestion is good for writing tMAs - its pretty similar to how I do mine. I am trying to keep a little ahead this year as I always get so behind and then get terribly stressed. Keep going you'll manage it! By the way hats off to you doing 2x60 pointers - no way I could do that.

loopyloowithaboo · 23/03/2007 18:27

Hey PollyLogos, sorry for late reply but not long got in from work. Still got about 800 words to go but i've got till midnight!

As for the DVD's I found the American beauty contests awful to watch, those poor little girls, it actually brought a lump to my throat!

I throught taking on two 60 pointers was a good idea, didn't want to spend 6 years getting my degree, but now i'm working 30 hours a week plus they keep sending me on training courses and something has to give, can't keep doing my TMA's at the last minute. On hindsight I should of kept my hours down, but i'm loving my job at the moment and want to do the training and my degree - so looks like i'll keep at it.

Thanks for your advice. Good luck with your TMA.

Yey i've finished and posted it off, all in time to watch criminal minds, what a bonus!!!

Thanks everyone for all your help, i've had some great tips that will hopefully help me to prepare for future TMA's with a bit more ease.
