pasta jars but with sweets - do they work?

my friend has a 4 year old who is completely out of control and she doesn't know how to handle her. it has meant that her dd is getting invited to less and less playdates and partys which is obviously upsetting for her. she was going to do something like pasta jars but with smarties as she is only 4 and doesn't really care about 10p pieces.

I have a more immediate system that works for me. I buy a pack of tic tacs, I tip out all but 10 and keep the pack in my pocket.
So I start the day saying 'these are your tic tacs and you can have them after your dinner but each time you do something I've asked you not to I'm going to eat one of them.'
