Newborn mucus!

I have a 5 week old who had a quick delivery (3 hrs) and weighed just over 10lb at birth. He had a couple of choking incidents hours after he was born and while we were still in hospital - I was told that he was born so quickly that he hadn't had time to get rid of the mucus that most babies would during the birth. A paediatrician was called to check him over, and he was given the all-clear, then he was checked again upon discharge - all fine. As soon as we got home, he was a very loud breather, and I mentioned it a few times to various midwives, who just said he needed to clear the mucus over the next few days. Five weeks later, he has just had a couple of very agitated days and finally sicked up yet more mucus. Has anyone else been through something similar? Just wondering should I be concerned - I had imagined it would have resolved itself immediately after the birth? TIA.

We had similar...not a quick birth but DD was like this. We couldn't lay her flat for the first few nights as her breathing didn't sound right. It eventunally all came out (not just of her mouth) and she was fine after that
