Videos for baby to watch on plane

Looking for advice as I am hopeless with technology!!

Going on plane for 3 1/2 hours with my just turning one year old and think having plenty nursery rhyme videos on iPad for him to watch will make flight more bearable for all.

It I have no idea how to download them so I can watch them offline on the plane.

Any ideas??

Thanks

If you have the iplayer app it is is really easy to dowland videos. Instead of pressing play there is a down load button.

I recently went on a similar journey and finger puppets went down well.

HappyGirly10 · 24/06/2017 22:39

Thanks will check that out! Dreading the journey a little as he is so active and hates being kept in one place. Plenty people do it though so sure I am worrying over nothing!

No he won't wear headphones, will listen quietly and watch the images on screen

You download on the Vimeo app too - free things from utube etc

Cakescakescakes · 24/06/2017 23:11

BBC iPlayer kids app and download a pile of shows.

SoupDragon · 25/06/2017 07:33

If he won't wear headphones, I don't think you should do it. There are other ways to entertain a baby.

pinkhorse · 25/06/2017 07:38

You can't do it without headphones without disturbing other passengers. However quiet you think it is other people will hear it.

mummabubs · 25/06/2017 07:55

Yeah... my immediate reaction was also "headphones or not at all". Im expecting my first child soon and we're hoping to travel in the first year so understand your predicament but I'd never do that to the other passengers on the plane- if it's loud enough for your child to hear it you can guarantee others will too, which isn't fair on them. Maybe finger puppets as someone else suggested or some soft toys? - nicer for them than staring at a screen anyway! 😊

My daughter will happily sit and watch the iPad without the sound so give it ago but I wouldn't have the sound on without headphones a family sat in front of me on a flight recently and let their daughter watch Ben and holly with the sound on and it drove me mad particularly as my daughter was sat there watching it with no sound! It was so loud I had to ask them to turn it down 3 times and even then I could still hear it!

KoalaDownUnder · 25/06/2017 07:58

Oh god yes. Headphones, please!

Cakescakescakes · 25/06/2017 07:59

Just watch it without the sound? That's what we do. A one year old won't be bothered by not hearing it anyway.

DorothyHarris · 25/06/2017 08:00

My kids sit and watch without the sound. My dd would sit and watch Peppa pig without the sound.

We flew when DS was a similar age - I bought a couple of new books that I saved for the flight -ones with a lot of flaps, textures etc, and they kept him amused for a good chunk of time. He also fed a lot (was still BFing), and slept for some of it.

LexieLulu · 25/06/2017 08:25

Netflix has an option to download for certain shows. For our flight we downloaded stuff like baby bum mother goose and high five (these are nursery rhyme singing shows), then maybe a couple of cartoons with a little bit more content like paw patrol x

LexieLulu · 25/06/2017 08:26

And there are headphones we bought our children which were suitable for their age and didn't go too loud. They were a godsend... I'll find a link

PerfectlyPosed · 25/06/2017 08:31

We are flying with our 2 year old DD this week and I have downloaded every series of Peppa Pig available on Netflix as well as Bing and Hey Duggie on iplayer. We have bought headphones although we haven't tested them yet. If she won't use them, she will watch without sound. Good luck!

eurochick · 25/06/2017 08:39

You can't play stuff that needs sound on a flight. It's horribly anti social.

When we flew at that age we had various Fischer price apps that were mostly visual and a drawing app called magic fingers. Plus a new small toy and a new book for each flight.

HappyGirly10 · 25/06/2017 08:52

Thank you all. Will be watching without sound. And will check out those headphones for next time, thank you LexieLulu! Good luck perfectlyposed sure it will be fine. I'm going to get downloading now. Videos are a last resort, have packed lots of books and toys and snacks to keep him amused. And hoping he will sleep at some point! Thanks everyone!!!
