toddler bed?

Our dd is 28 months old and still has the sides up on her cot, I'm pretty sure she could climb out if she wanted but she's not much of a climber and would rather shout till we came in! Now we have a lot of changes coming up as I'm 7 months pregnant , hopefully moving into a new house by August and she'll be starting a couple of days at nursery in September so wondering whether we should go for it now ? We were going to buy her a new bed eventually so we have the cot for the baby when it moves from the crib and I took her to ikea the other day and she seemed to really like the bigger beds so thought maybe capitalise on that excitement since she seems ready rather than wait till we need to transition ( when she starts climbing out!). What do you think? Shall I just wait till we really need to as I know we'll probably have a few tricky nights as she does take a while to fall asleep (once she's asleep she's fine) or go for it now?

We put DS in a bed when he was just under 2. He'd previously been sleeping in our bed because he just wouldn't sleep in the cot. He loved his bed straight away; can get in and out himself, and sometimes now even gets up in the morning and just plays in his room for a while. Bliss.

Do it if you think she's ready.

We moved my son when he was nearly three because we had a lot of changes at home and felt he needed one less thing to worry about. However if you can get it done before all the changes happen then I'd go for it.
Be prepared for the excitement though!! My son dropped his naps we soon as he went into a bed because it was sooooo brilliant!

I say if it ain't broke don't fix it, but am curious to see others' advice as we have the same issue.

DD1 is 27 months and hasn't really attempted to climb out although I'm sure she could. She goes to sleep on her own and sleeps through generally without a peep for 10 hours so I'm reluctant to do anything that might mess that up. We have a 6 month old as well so I'm reluctant to do anything that might cause a step backwards!

We have a full size cot bed that you can take 3 bars out of, so if she does start climbing out I think I'll just take the bars out at first and then concert if to a toddler bed later.

If it was me, i'd do it now so she is settled in it before new baby comes along.

Just make sure any heavy furniture in her room is attached to the wall and if worried about her going for a wander if she wakes up, put a stairgate on the bedroom door.

My DD was just 2 when she changed beds. Just make a big deal about it being a big girl bed.
