Do you let your dc choose which clothes you'll buy for them?

....and if so, from what age? And how do you handle it if they want perfectly suitable clothes you don't like much?

I went shopping for dd (age 6) last week, and got 7 new summer dresses. I brought them home, and she tried them on for fit. I told her she could choose 3 to keep.

Two of the three dresses she chose are my least favourites. I'm ashamed to say that I'm tempted to just keep the ones I like best. I know I need to/should give her some choice, some self expression, some freedom, but she just looks sooo sweet in a few of the dresses she didn't choose......

Makes life much easier if they like what you buy imo.I let them choose within reason.DS would wear a vest and shorts everyday if he had the choice.
