Hi all. I've just been offered a place to do a postgraduate diploma in counselling starting in September. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long, long time. I'm not getting a huge amount of support at home and it's been a bit of a bumpy ride to even get this far but I can't wait. Between now and September I have to read 3 books, write an autobiography (not sure how long and secure a placement. Anyone else out there doing counselling? Even if not I just really wanted to say hello and that I'll probably be posting on this topic a lot more in future.

Congratulations - how exciting - I wanted to do the diploma a couple of years ago (I did an FE certificate in counselling) but then got sidetracked into having a baby so it is all on hold! Have you had any ideas about where you want to do your placement yet?

I've contacted a couple of places - a hospital,a local association for mental health - and gotten some info but I'm not sure any of them will guarantee me a place until I actually start the course.

I've gotten sidetracked many, many times over the last 10 years and this is me finally getting round to it!

I guess you still have plenty of time to sort out the placement. Good luck with it - bet you can't wait till September
