Toddler bed or single bed for nearly 2 year old!

Hi all, I really need to think about putting my DD 23 months into a bed. I think she's outgrowing her cot now. My DS was in a bed at 13 months...

But single or toddler bed for a average sized 2 year old?

I have my sons old toddler bed which will need a new mattress or just get her a new single bed? I have a bed guard too.

Advice?

I'd get a single bed. My DS has been in one since he stopped sleeping in with me, under 1 I think. It was a floor bed initially and set up so he couldn't get stuck anywhere, but by 23 months I would have thought you could use the bed guard to stop her falling out and teach her to scuffle down the bed to climb out. Otherwise you'll be buying a toddler bed mattress AND a single bed later. The other benefit of the single bed is that you can get in with them if necessary.

That's what I was thinking SueGeneris! Thanks 😊
