6 year old and toileting

Can anyone offer some advice re my 6 year old?

She is still in nappies at night - we tried to go nappy free after her 6 bday recently but this resulted in 1 dry night out of 5. I'm fairly relaxed about this but conscious that she is starting to get older so wondering if we should be trying to tackle this rather than resort to nappies every night.

More worryingly, this week she has started pooing in her pants. We've had around 5 accidents in 3 days - she hasn't got diarrhoea at all and is in normal health. She's come home from school 2 days running absolutely reeking and has poo in her knickers. This evening she's had 3 poo accidents since the end of school.

She has been prone to accidents every since potty training but not usually in this frequency. She tells us it comes too quickly.

I'm really careful not to get cross or stress her about this but I think she is a little embarrassed. She hates being dirty but seems to just ignore the fact that she is dirty until she comes home.

I've had a chat with her this evening around anything that's worrying her. She's very happy at school in the main but has mentioned that she's on her own at break times a little as her best friend is playing with other people. She's quite able to stick up for herself so I can't imagine this would be the cause.

Her behaviour has been quite challenging for the last month - she's pushing boundaries which has left us quite frazzled and at times quite angry/ at a loss at how to deal with her. All little kid stuff - nothing major.

Any ideas!?

Hi OP, I am no expert but have you tried the ERIC website or helpline? They are very helpful. Also might be worth a chat to school nurse / GP.

Re. the friends issue and pushing boundaries- I wonder if it is all linked? I have a 6 year old too and who she plays with at break times is very important in her world.
