Hi, any mums use a perfect prep machine and have nutramigen milk and how do you prepare it using the machine

How does the tub of milk tell you to make it?

Vics100pink · 13/06/2017 19:11

Well, to use boiled water let the water cool and then add the formula to room temp water, against everything been told

Put in the required scoops. Do the initial hot shot. Shake. Then put it back under to fill with the rest of the water. Shake again, then it's ready

Thats what I have done for the first bottle, but now not sure if that right as read that should be added to room temp water, but can't see why. It's nutramigen 1 with lgg

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 13/06/2017 19:14

It does say on the website that the preparation guidelines differ to those given for other formula

Vics100pink · 13/06/2017 19:15

Dont want to cause her harm and really worried that I will, but am confused as to why add formula to room temp water

OP posts:
Emma2803 · 13/06/2017 19:18

It's cos the hot water will destroy the probiotics in the formula.

Website seems to say its to preserve the LGG friendly bacteria. Seems to be a trade off so it depends if you want safe milk or the benefit of the LGG (don't know what those benefits are though)

Sorry wrong picture

Thank you all, just unsure how to use prep machine, and how to make up bottles as can't wait for bottle to cool at night, anyone got ideas

OP posts:
Emma2803 · 13/06/2017 19:38

In the morning in your freshly sterilised bottles pour the required amount of water and put the lid on. Leave on your work top to cool. Fill as many bottles as you will need for the day. When you need them you will have a bottle of sterile water at the right temperature. Just add formula, mix and feed immediately.
For night time take up a bottle with already cooled water and a tub with the right amount of formula measured out. When needed just mix and feed.
Don't need prep machine at all.

Vics100pink · 13/06/2017 19:40

So just leave bottles out all day on the side with boiling water in them???

OP posts:
Emma2803 · 13/06/2017 19:41

If you don't use the water throw it out the next day, really sterilise bottles and start again.

Emma2803 · 13/06/2017 19:42

Yes. Then they will cool to the temperature of the room. The lid will be on so they will be sealed.

Vics100pink · 13/06/2017 19:46

Have you used this formula

OP posts:
Emma2803 · 13/06/2017 19:48

No I haven't.

tissuesosoft · 13/06/2017 19:56

I used nutramigen and made it up the usual way with the prep machine, doctor and HV said it was fine

Notreallyarsed · 13/06/2017 19:56

I used nutramigen with the perfect prep, I just added all the water first to cool the hot shot and then added the milk. Never had any problems and the HV and GP were happy with it.

We use nutramigen and make up as per Emma's instructions and in accordance with DS's dietician advice. There really is no need to use the perfect prep and it will negate some of the benefits of the nutramigen.

Emma2803 · 13/06/2017 20:15

It's has recently changed formulation though tissuesosoft and notresllyarsed to include probiotics

Notreallyarsed · 13/06/2017 20:32

Ah ok Emma I stopped using it over a year ago, so if it's changed since then OP ignore my previous post.

Nan0second · 13/06/2017 20:35

Do not use perfect prep.
You need to use room temperature water and follow the instructions on the tin.
The lgg is to help your child grow out of the cmpa allergy.
Sterilise bottles. Add boiling water to bottles. Leave to cool (with lids on) and then add powder when time to make a bottle. You can make multiple bottles of water at once for 24 hours. Nothing bad will happen with the lid on!

tissuesosoft · 13/06/2017 20:38

I used the Nutramigen with LGG, I didn't have any issues making it up the way I did. But completely understand you want to do what is best for your baby!

3luckystars · 13/06/2017 20:41

I used neocate and just made it up as normal formula.

You could do it backwards if nutramigen insists on adding it to room temperature water. As in: Put the hot shot into a bowl, discard this.
Then put the powder into the bottle, add the cold water, mix, then add a hot shot on top of that.

That's a bit messy though! I would prefer to add the powder to hot water to kill any bacteria though. Good luck.
