Keeping Little boys clean!

My little boy has started making a fuss about me touching or cleaning his winky!!
I'm sure it is just a short term thing, but I am concerned about him getting an infection.
Has anyone else had a similar problem, if so how long did it last and what was the best approach.
I don't want to make an issue of it, because I'm worried that will make things worse. Also there is the added concern of a misunderstanding if he mentions it in public!!! i.e. "Don't like Mummy/Daddy touching my winky".
Would be grateful of any advice or tips.
JO

How old is he?

Generally, the penis is a self-cleaning body part, imo. Obviously you need to clean poo off it, but otherwise ...

He is 2.5

Apart from a quick wipe-over to remove poo (if he's still in nappies) why would you need to do anything else?

Blimey, I never did any special cleaning with my ds's winky.

As long as he goes in the bath fairly often I don't think you need to do anything else.

Must admit tho' that I did have to ask dh his advice, having never had to look after one before!

That's reassuring.
Now I can relax a bit and stop worrying so much.
Thanks for all the advice
