Katymac and everyone.. wonder if you can help me? Am doing a worksheet for unit 301 about SEN legislation and have to match these statements to the legislation - none of my text books seem to have enough info in!

Here are the legislations:

  1. Children Act 1989
  2. Care Standards Act 2000
  3. Education Act 1993 (revised 96)
  4. Code of Practice 2001

Here are the results of the legislation:
A. It was suggested a formal staged process should be followed to identify and assess a child's special need and to create a written record.

B. A five stage process t6o assess a child's special needs is identified. If needed a 'statement' is written to say how those needs will be met.

C. Standards 7 (health), 9 (equal ops) and 10 (special needs) give minimum guidance to help those working with children who have special educational needs.

D A staged system of assessment consisting of 'action' and 'action plus' is introduced to support children whose needs may not require a 'statement' or to contribute to the process of 'statementing'.

Have already matched six others so just these to do.

Any help would be appreciated as I only have to finish this to get my first full unit signed off!

Katymac · 20/03/2007 09:00

Not doing terribly well I'm afraid

I'm thinking
C might be 2
D might be 3
A might be 1
b might be 4 - but I don't know why so please don't use that without verification

Sorry I haven't helped much have I?

OK asked my assessor about worksheet and she said instaed I can answer this question to provide the knowledge needed...
"What are the relevant legal requirements covering the needs of disabled children and those with special educational needs? "

Any ideas?
Get so impatient having to prove everything I do in writing, I know that's the whole point but grrr! Im really good at doing things in the practical sense but ask me to sit down and write it out and I feel all lost!
